OVERVIEW

Coal Minerals Group (CMG) is a Leading Malawian owned Coal Mining Company that is based in Karonga at Pusi and it operates at Kasantha. The company has been in operation for over 5 years. It is a registered by the Government of Malawi and is currently employing more than 200 Malawians.

The Company seeks to recruit an experienced chain Mine Manager to be based at Kasantha. The following are the requirements for the ideal candidate.

POSITION: MINE MANAGER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mine manager is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising the daily activities of the mine.
  • Responsible for planning future mine production, overseeing the development and tunneling of the mine,
  • Checking the quality of stone, rock and minerals and inspecting the mine for any danger.
  • Ensure occupational health and safety guidelines are followed, which includes planning and overseeing maintenance of the mine and developing emergency response plans.
  • Mine manager is responsible for the overall management of mining projects.
  • Assists in staffing, outlining project plans, setting project goals/deadlines, and evaluating performance.
  • Ensures the safety and health of mine workers. Recommends corrective action when problems are detected.

Other key requirements are not limited to,

  • Mine manager requires certification by the Ministry of Mines and other relevant key players in the sector.
  • Typically reports to a head of a unit/department.
  • The Mine Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity.
  • Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.
  • To be a Mine Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.
  • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
  • Be able to resolve conflicts and misunderstandings that may arise in his department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mining or a Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Studies obtained from a recognized University.
  • Minimum of 5 years hands on work experience in a mine. Those with relevant experience in coal Mining will have an added experience.
  • Mine manager is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising the daily activities of the mine.
