Position Summary
The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will support the M&E Manager and M&E Coordinator in implementing the MEAL framework across all OSSEDI projects. You will ensure timely data collection, quality assurance, reporting, and learning. The role demands strong technical skills in digital data collection, analysis, and field-level capacity building.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of project M&E plans, logical frameworks, and indicator tracking tables.
- Design and manage digital data collection tools using KoboCollect, ODK, or CommCare.
- Conduct routine data quality audits (DQAs) and field monitoring visits.
- Clean, analyse, and visualize quantitative and qualitative data using Excel, SPSS, STATA, or Power BI.
- Prepare quarterly, annual, and donor M&E reports with evidence-based findings.
- Train project staff, community volunteers, and partners on basic M&E, data ethics, and reporting.
- Maintain project databases and ensure timely data entry and backup.
- Support the Feedback and Complaints Mechanism (GRM) by analyzing community feedback and tracking response times.
- Document success stories, case studies, and lessons learned.
- Participate in project review meetings, learning events, and baseline/end line evaluations.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Demography, Economics, Public Health, Development Studies, M&E, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on M&E experience with a local or international NGO in Malawi.Malawi employment news
- Demonstrated experience in donor-funded projects
Technical skills
- Proficiency in digital data collection (KoboCollect, ODK, SurveyCTO).
- Strong skills in data analysis software (SPSS, STATA, R, or Advanced Excel).
- Knowledge of DHIS2 is an asset.
- Experience with GIS mapping for M&E is a plus.
- Familiarity with MEAL systems, logical frameworks, and results-based management.
Soft skills
- Strong report writing and communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and in remote field conditions.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to data ethics.
- Valid motorcycle riding licence (or willingness to learn) – an advantage.
Language
- Fluent in English and Chichewa (written and spoken). Knowledge of another local language is desirable.
