Namikango Mission is a Church of Christ institution committed to empowering African communities through Christ-centred transformation. As part of its ministry work, the Mission runs a health centre with a maternity wing, an OPD, HTS and environmental health services. The Mission is therefore inviting applications from suitably qualified and motivated individuals to fill the position of nursing intern tenable at the Namikango Mission Health centre in Zomba, Thondwe.
Responsibilities or duties
- Monitor and record patients’ vital signs.
- Administer prescribed medications under the guidance of a supervising nurse.
- Assist in wound dressing, injections and other nursing procedures as directed.
- Observe patients’ conditions and promptly report abnormalities or emergencies to the supervising nurse.
- Participate in patient admission, transfer, referral and discharge processes.
- Assist in providing antenatal, postnatal, family planning and child health services.
- Support maternal and newborn care under supervision.
Qualifications or requirements
- Minimum of a Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery from an accredited institution. Those with experience and a Bachelor’s of science in Nursing and Midwifery from an accredited institution will have an added advantage.
- Must be registered with the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi.
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be hardworking, honest and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays when required.
- Must be a member of the Church of Christ with deep passion for ministry.
Experience needed
Experience is an added advantage for those with a Bachelor's degree.
