JOB DETAILS:

The Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Health. CMST is mandated to procure, store and distribute essential medicines and medical supplies to all public health facilities in Malawi. CMST is seeking to recruit non-malawi and malawi nationals to support its mandate to support its establishments in Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre as follows:

Pharmacist-in-Charge

Job Grade: MS4
Location: Lilongwe
Responsible to: Branch Manager (MS3)
Responsible for: Pharmacist (MS8)
No. of Positions: 1

Purpose of the Job

To provide oversight of all pharmaceutical operations within the warehouse, including inbound and outbound activities, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure warehouse operations comply with the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority Act, applicable regulations, and Good Warehousing and Distribution Practices.
• Supervise and monitor warehouse activities and processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ensure inventory transactions are accurately captured in real time in the ERP system.
• Ensure proper maintenance of documentation relating to receipts, customer orders and shipments.
• Coordinate and oversee third-party logistics providers.
• Monitor last-mile distribution activities to ensure value for money.
• Liaise with the Finance Department to ensure accurate customer invoicing.
• Advise management on stock status and stock movements.
• Ensure warehouse facilities, equipment and materials are maintained, optimised, safe and efficient.
• Develop, maintain and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Assess staff training and development needs and implement capacity-building interventions.
• Prepare work plans and budgets and manage subordinate staff performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from a recognised institution.
• Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent.
• Registration with the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA).
• Postgraduate training in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field is an added advantage.

Experience & Skills

• At least 6 years' progressive experience in a busy pharmaceutical warehouse environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of ERP systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical skills.

Level of Education: bachelor degree
