Overview
St. Gabriel’s Hospital is a mission hospital committed to providing high-quality healthcare services in line with Christian values. It is located in Namitete, approximately 45 km west of Malawi’s capital city, Lilongwe.
Position Summary
The Hospital is looking for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Pharmacist. The successful candidate will support the function of Pharmacy, help improve operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with hospital policies and financial regulations.
Position Details
Position: Pharmacist
Grade: I
Reporting to: Medical Director
Institution: St. Gabriel’s Hospital – under the Archdiocese of Lilongwe and a member of the Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM)Buy vitamins and supplements
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee pharmacy operations to ensure efficiency and compliance
- Ensure adherence to PMRA regulations and hospital policies
- Dispense prescription medications to patients and ensure proper dosage and administration
- Review and interpret physician orders to ensure accuracy and appropriateness
- Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients
- Conduct medication reconciliation upon patient admission and discharge
- Manage inventory of pharmaceuticals and ensure proper storage conditions
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
- Perform clinical rounds with physicians and other healthcare providers
- Participate in clinical research and trials as needed
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and other support staff
- Maintain patient records and document medication therapy outcomes
- Conduct thorough medication reviews
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy obtained from an accredited institution
- Proven experience as a pharmacist
- Valid license to practice as a pharmacist
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and pharmacy software applications
- Candidate should be knowledgeable of Catholic social teachings
