JOB DESCRIPTION

PLUMBER

Job Title: Plumber

Reports to: Facilities Manager / Maintenance Supervisor

Job Purpose:

To ensure the efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of all plumbing systems across the school campus, including classrooms, boarding facilities, and staff housing. The role requires a reliable and skilled professional who can work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of safety and integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, including water supply lines, drainage systems, sanitary fittings, and fixtures.
  • Carry out routine inspections of plumbing systems across the school, boarding houses, and staff residences.
  • Diagnose plumbing faults and perform timely repairs to minimize disruption to school operations.
  • Ensure adequate water supply and proper functioning of bathrooms, kitchens, laundries, and other facilities.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency plumbing issues.
  • Maintain records of work completed, materials used, and repairs undertaken.
  • Monitor and report on the condition of plumbing systems and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards at all times.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance planning and implementation.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience as a plumber, preferably in a school, residential, or institutional setting.
  • Relevant technical certification in plumbing or a related trade.
  • Strong practical knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
