Background
St. Matthew's Academy in Area 49, a mission school owned by St. Matthew's Anglican Parish in the Diocese of Lake Malawi, is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced primary school teacher to join its thriving school community. The successful candidate will support learners' academic, basic, and developmental needs, provide an enriching learning environment, and help create a safe, caring atmosphere for all learners.
Responsibilities
The teacher will equip learners with practical knowledge and skills that prepare them for their future and contribute to the development of the country.
Qualifications and Requirements
- The candidate must have a good MSCE.
- The candidate must hold at least a T2 Certificate from a reputable Teacher Training College in Malawi.
- The candidate must be fluent in English, as St. Matthew's Academy is an English-medium school.
- The candidate must have at least four years of teaching experience.
Communication Skills
Excellent communication skills are required for effective interaction with learners, parents, staff, and the wider community.
- Involve learners in both curricular and co-curricular activities.
- Prepare teaching materials and professional documents, including lesson plans.
- Plan and apply effective classroom management practices.
- Deliver the approved curriculum and adhere to the timetable and schedule.
- Use effective strategies to develop responsible and independent learners.
- Enable learners to use current technology, resources, and information to solve problems.
- Motivate learners through meaningful and progressively challenging learning experiences.
- Maintain class records, including attendance, scholastic, and period registers.
- Coordinate with the Head Teacher on class-related matters.
- Provide guidance and counselling to learners and identify their needs.
- Engage learners in active, hands-on, creative, problem-based learning.
- Give learners opportunities to be engaged and learn through play and exploration.
- Promote creative thinking and integrated learning experiences.
- Develop learners' ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Research and apply new teaching methods.
- Compile and submit all required reports to the Head Teacher on time.
- Build positive relationships with learners, parents, and fellow staff through strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills
- Good MSCE
- T2 Certificate from a reputable Teacher Training College in Malawi
- Fluent in English
