Job Purpose
Huldah’s Insurance Brokers Limited is seeking a qualified and experienced Principal Officer to provide strategic leadership and overall management of the company.
Key Responsibilities
The Principal Officer will be responsible for, among other duties:
- Providing strategic direction and leadership to achieve the company’s vision, mission, and business objectives.
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the brokerage to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Ensuring compliance with the Insurance Act, Reserve Bank of Malawi directives, and all other applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Leading and coordinating the licensing, regulatory reporting, and compliance functions of the company.
- Developing and implementing strategic business plans and annual operational plans.
- Driving business development initiatives and growing the company’s client portfolio.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with insurers, clients, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring operational policies, procedures, and internal control systems.
- Managing financial performance, budgets, and business risks.
- Ensuring effective human resource management, including staff supervision, performance management, and professional development.
- Preparing Board papers, management reports, statutory returns, and other regulatory reports.
- Promoting sound corporate governance, ethical conduct, and a culture of excellence throughout the organization.
- Representing the company in meetings with regulators, business partners, and industry stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Law, or another relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
- A Chartered Insurance qualification (ACII or an equivalent internationally recognized Chartered Insurance qualification) is mandatory.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ progressive experience in the insurance industry, with at least three (3) years in a senior management position, preferably within an insurance brokerage or insurance company.
- Thorough knowledge of Malawi’s insurance regulatory environment and corporate governance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in business development, strategic planning, and organizational leadership.
