Job Overview

The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to join the Faculty of Development Studies as Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, Assistant Lecturer, or Staff Associate in Accounting.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, consultancy, curriculum development, student mentorship, and community engagement in the field of Accounting while supporting the University's mission of academic excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Accounting.
• Prepare and update course outlines, teaching materials, and assessments.
• Conduct lectures, tutorials, seminars, and practical sessions.
• Design and review curricula to meet academic and industry standards.
• Conduct research and publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research.
• Develop research proposals and secure grants.
• Mentor students academically and professionally.
• Participate in community engagement, consultancy, and professional training.
• Serve on departmental, faculty, and university committees.
• Perform other duties assigned by the University.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• A Master's degree in Accounting from a recognized university for appointment at the Assistant Lecturer level.
• A PhD in Accounting from a recognized university for appointment at the Lecturer level and above.

Other Requirements

• Staff Associate applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree with at least a Credit in a related field.
• Candidates completing a Master's degree should indicate their expected completion date.
• Minimum three (3) years' relevant experience, preferably in university teaching or curriculum development.
• Applicants for Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Professor must demonstrate publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals and evidence of attracting research funding.

Terms and Conditions

Successful candidates will be appointed on an initial two-year contract, with eligibility for permanent appointment based on satisfactory performance and the LUANAR Staff Regulations and Conditions of Service (2023).
