Saint John of God Hospitaller Services Malawi is a non-profit, faith-based healthcare organization established in 1994 to contribute to the development of health for all Malawians, including the most vulnerable, marginalized, and excluded groups. With operations in Lilongwe and Mzuzu, the organization is a key provider of tertiary and community-based mental health services, early intervention, inclusive education for children with disabilities, vocational training, elderly care, psychosocial support, rehabilitation services, and university-level training in health-related disciplines.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Programs Manager, the Project Coordinator will be the overall responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination and monitoring of the IECCD Project.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of project activities in line with approved work plans and budgets
  • Coordinate with government departments, community stakeholders and partner organizations
  • Supervise project staff and provide technical guidance
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of narrative and financial reports
  • Monitor project performance using established indicators and recommend improvements
  • Facilitate community mobilization and participation in project activities
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Social Work, Public Health, Development Studies or a related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage)
  • Strong understanding of Early Childhood Care and Development frameworks
  • Excellent reporting, communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Willingness to work with people with mental health conditions
  • Commitment to the organization’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy

Experience needed

  • Minimum of 4–5 years’ experience in project coordination or management, preferably in ECCD programmes
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and community-based programming
