Word Alive Ministries International through its Commission for Relief and Development (WACRAD) Invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced persons and with passion and a sense of calling to fill the following vacant position;

Tile of post: Project Officer (WASH & Heath) Officer

Grade: MM 3

Duration of Contract 3 years

Location: Bangula – Nsanje

Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Community Development or any related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in a similar position
  • Proficiency in using the computer
  • Class A motor cycle licence
  • Experience in working with Faith Based Orgarnization an added advantage.

Personal Attributes

  • Dedicated Christian of sound standing in their local church
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chichewa
  • Proven experience in implementing WASH project, porticularly in humanitarian or resource-limited setings
  • Knowledge of hygiene and sanitation promotion tools (PHAST, CLTSH]
  • Proven record of integrity and accountability.
  • Commitment to work and travel frequently to hardship areas
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft word, spreadsheet, Powerpoint and Internet)
  • Strong communication, community facilitation skills and flexibility
  • Valid motorcycle driving license is a must
  • Personal maturity, sensitivity to gender and cultural issues
  • A crime free record and passion for working closely with children and volunteers in adverse situations
  • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships, with their team, colleagues, members and external porters and supporters.

Duties

  • Plan, supervise, and support the construction and rehabilitation of WASH and health Infrastructure, Including water systems, sanitation facilities, and health posts.
  • Facilitate community mobilisation, hygiene promotion, and capacity building through participatory approaches such as CLTS and PHAST to improve sanitation and healthy practices
  • Conduct water quality testing and monitor sanitation standards to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders to strengthen coordination, service delivery, and sustainability of WASH and health interventions
  • Prepare and submit program reports, including progress updates, challenges, outcomes, and success stories to relevant stakeholders.

Remuneration

Remuneration in line with the Church’s Salary Structure will be offered to the successful candidate.
