PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Within the context of the “Every Child Belongs” Project, the Project Officer plays a critical role in advancing World Vision’s mission by ensuring the inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in development initiatives. The role focuses on promoting disability inclusion, facilitating access to essential services, and building the capacities of staff and community partners in disability awareness and best practices.

Responsibilities or duties

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Engagement & Capacity Building (20%)

  • Develop processes for community involvement and empowerment.
  • Conduct awareness campaigns and sensitization on disability issues.
  • Identify and address capacity gaps for community partners.
  • Provide disability awareness training and technical assistance.

Disability Programming and Child Well-Being (20%)

  • Ensure access to quality education and healthcare for children with disabilities.Education
  • Address dietary needs and feeding challenges.
  • Conduct campaigns to reduce stigma and increase understanding.
  • Advocate for physically accessible environments.

Program Planning, Implementation, Monitoring & Learning (30%)

  • Develop inclusive program designs and implementation strategies.
  • Promote accessible services and infrastructure.
  • Facilitate data collection and knowledge generation.
  • Conduct capacity-building and training activities.

Collaboration & Partnership Development (15%)

  • Establish community networks and partnerships.
  • Empower individuals with disabilities through leadership training.
  • Advocate for policy changes with government agencies.

Child Protection, Disability, Advocacy & Policy Engagement (15%)

  • Ensure compliance with GESI, DEI, Disability, and Child Safeguarding policies.
  • Support local level advocacy efforts for child well-being.
  • Engage with stakeholders to influence policy changes.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelors Degree in relevant field such as Education, Inclusive or Special Needs Education, Social Sciences , Disability Studies, Development Studies or any other relevant fields
  • Primary & Secondary Schooling (K-12)
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and project management skills.
  • Achieving quality results & service,
  • Practicing accountability & integrity,
  • Practicing innovation & change.
  • Building collaborative relationships, Influencing individuals & groups.

Experience needed

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.

NOTE:

This is a Temporary Position up to 30th September, 2026 and is tenable in the 2 districts of Kasungu and Chitipa. Preference shall be given to candidates that are presently staying in the 2 districts .
