Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc is the country’s leading producer of raw, refined and specialty sugars; employing more than 9000 employees. Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc is part of Illovo Sugar Africa Group; a wholly-owned subsidiary of Associated British Foods plc (ABF).

Responsibilities or duties

Plan, structure and lead the execution of site improvement projects in-Country using appropriate processes and tools

Identify, generate the business case, motivate, plan and manage implementation of capital projects, ensuring required economic and community outcomes are delivered on time.

Leverage in Country support from process and engineering optimization teams to deliver on the project mandate

Coordinate input and develop 5-year agricultural capital plans, including equipment selection and review

Coordinate development of scope of work, request for quotations, tender evaluations and adjudications of projects.

Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects, and ensure that all contractors meet SLAs

Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques

Measure and report on project performance and expenditure against project budgets using appropriate tools and techniques

Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis, and ensure capital projects are aligned with the Costrac system

Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Degree in Agriculture / Mechanical / Civil Engineering

Experience needed

5+ years’ experience in commercial agriculture production

Large scale project management and implementation experience

Optimization and or Project Management experience of at least 3 years

Any other provided details (e.g., benefits, work environment, team info, or additional notes)

Familiarity with Costrac or similar would be an advantage
