SITE SUPERVISION TEAM — ROAD UPGRADING, REHABILITATION & RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
CONTRACT PERIOD: 18 MONTHS
PJK&Partners Consulting Ltd is one of the leading engineering consulting firms in Malawi, with a strong track record in the supervision of major road infrastructure projects. The firm is currently providing consultancy services for the supervision of the upgrading, rehabilitation and reconstruction of a road to bitumen standard with asphalt concrete surfacing, an assignment to be undertaken over a contract period of 18 months. To establish the site supervision team, PJK&Partners Consulting Ltd invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following positions:
POSITIONS AVAILABLE
RESIDENT ENGINEER
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide full-time supervision and contract administration of the construction works on behalf of the Client.
- Review and approve the Contractor’s work programmes, construction methods and key site management personnel.
- Issue instructions, interpretations and additional drawings necessary for the proper execution of the works.
- Inspect the works and order correction or rejection of defective work; oversee quality control and testing
- Evaluate and make recommendations on variations, claims and disputes.
- Review and certify the Contractor’s monthly interim payment applications and resolve payment disputes.
- Oversee health, safety, social and environmental compliance on site.
- Monitor physical and financial progress against the approved programme and maintain full project records.
- Chair monthly progress meetings and submit minutes, monthly progress reports and the final report.
- Inspect and certify completion of works, issue Taking-Over and Maintenance Certificates and prepare the Final Account.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or the equivalent, and professionally qualified
- Documented experience in the position of Resident Engineer on at least five (5) projects of a similar size and nature in the general region of Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Candidates with twenty (20) years or more of relevant experience, including the design and supervision of road construction works, will have an added advantage.
