OVERVIEW

The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited is incorporated under the Companies Act of the Laws of Malawi. Its core business is to procure, transmit and distribute electric power in Malawi as well as managing System Market Operations and Single Buyer licensees in Malawi.

ESCOM is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions currently existing within the Corporation.

Seasonal Worker (40 Positions

Grade: SW

Location: Kasungu

Duration: 12 Months

Supervised by : Distribution Supervisor

Purpose of the Job

To assist Power Linespersons in the construction and maintenance of distribution lines.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pole and Stay hole excavation;
  • Line corridor Clearing and substation weeding;
  • Pole holes drilling;
  • Loading and offloading poles/materials;
  • Assist in Pole delivery, positioning and erection;
  • Running conductors;
  • Proper handling and storage of tools and materials

Attributes and competencies

  • Energetic
  • Mentally and Physically Fit
  • Capable of Working under tough conditions & sometimes during odd hours
  • Attention to detail.
  • The ability to operate effectively both independently and as part of a team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)
  • Pole and Stay hole excavation;
  • Line corridor Clearing and substation weeding;
  • Pole holes drilling;
  • Loading and offloading poles/materials;
  • Assist in Pole delivery, positioning and erection;
  • Running conductors;
  • Proper handling and storage of tools and materials
