ROLE SUMMARY

The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of company premises, employees, assets, and visitors. The role involves enforcing security procedures, mitigating cases of theft and security breaches, monitoring surveillance systems, conducting patrols, and responding promptly to incidents in order to maintain a secure working environment. Based in Balaka, the successful candidate will oversee security matters for all company premises, including the Balaka Plant, Makata Plant, Lunzu Plant, and Kanengo Depot.

MAIN ACTIVITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The Security Officer will be responsible for the following activities:

• Reviewing and enforcing company security policies, access control, and safety procedures.
• Implementing preventative measures to mitigate theft, unauthorized access, vandalism, or other illegal activities and security breaches.
• Monitoring CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and other surveillance equipment. Conducting routine patrols within and around company premises.
• Recording and reporting all security observations, incidents, and irregularities. Assisting in the investigation of accidents or security breaches.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of degree in Security management/studies.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial or corporate security operations. Military, police, or any private security training will be an added advantage.
• Experience with security technology (CCTV, access control, alarm systems, Guard Monitoring Units).

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Strong observation, communication, and reporting skills.
• Strong knowledge and application of surveillance operations and safety procedures.
