About the Employer / Role

The Malawi–Liverpool–Wellcome Research Programme (MLW) is an internationally recognized research and training institution funded by the Wellcome Trust in collaboration with the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS), Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), University of Liverpool, and other partners.

MLW is seeking a Senior Clinical Officer to provide clinical oversight and coordinate research activities for the CLEAR-TB Study. The successful candidate will ensure participant safety, protocol compliance, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and high-quality clinical data collection while supporting research on drug-resistant tuberculosis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee complex clinical research activities.
  • Identify and resolve challenges arising during clinical trials.
  • Ensure compliance with research protocols, SOPs, ethical and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain infection prevention and control standards.
  • Promote equality, inclusion, and safeguarding of vulnerable populations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant records.
  • Ensure participant safety and high-quality clinical documentation.
  • Work independently while effectively managing study activities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent medical degree recognized by the Medical Council of Malawi.
  • Full registration and valid licence to practise Medicine in Malawi.
  • Experience in clinical research or clinical trials.
  • Valid ICH-GCP Certification.
  • Experience in tuberculosis, infectious diseases, or internal medicine is an added advantage.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and documentation skills.
