Senior Full Stack JavaScript Engineer

Products Team

Hyve Mobile is looking for a powerhouse Senior Full Stack JavaScript Engineer to join our Products Team in Cape Town. In this role, you will be a key player in building, maintaining, and optimising world-class, client-facing enterprise platforms and digital services.

You’ll be joining a team of highly dynamic and talented engineers who take products from design all the way to usable applications. If you are passionate about building pixel-perfect interfaces and robust backend architectures, we want to talk to you.

The Role

As a Senior member of the Products Team, your responsibilities will be split across the full stack:

Frontend (React Ecosystem): Build out a highly dynamic component-driven CMS tool using Next.js and Bit.dev. You will develop exciting applications like Trivia apps and Fantasy Football games, ensuring they compete with the very best in the market.

Backend (NodeJS/Nest.js): Architect and develop integration requirements and core platform features using NodeJS and the Nest.js Framework.

Infrastructure & Data: Manage and optimize MySQL databases and work within cloud-based environments using AWS (EKS) and Kubernetes.

Solutions Architecture: Translate new business requirements into functional microservices and collaborate closely with the design team to question and refine ideas.

Mentorship & Collaboration: Provide support and mentorship to junior developers while working with stakeholders to solve ad-hoc queries and cross-system integrations.

Experience & Tech Stack – Required Core Languages

Expert-level knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, and HTML.

Backend: 5+ years of solid experience in a web application environment, specifically with NodeJS and Nest.js.

Frontend: Strong experience in the React library ecosystem and CSS-in-JS (e.g., styled-components).

API & Security: Proven track record in REST API design and integration, with an interest in GraphQL and a solid understanding of frontend security best practices.

DevOps & Tools: Experience with building tools like Webpack or Vite, and working with containerized environments (Kubernetes).
