The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), an organization entrusted with the assessment, collection, and accounting for tax revenues for the Malawi Government is inviting applications from versatile and suitably qualified candidates to fill the above position in the Finance Division.

Overall Objective

Responsible for overseeing and Coordinating Revenue Monitoring Activities to ensure accurancy,completeness and compliance with financial policy and regulations.

Responsibilities or duties

Main Responsibilities

  • Supervising daily reconciliation of e-payment reports against bank statements to ensure all revenue collected is deposited into the designated collection account.
  • Reviewing reconciliation reports prepared by the team for accuracy and completeness
  • Daily preparation and submission of revenue Remittances tracker.
  • Identifying and resolving of discrepancies, including wrong banking transactions, and initiating necessary fund transfers
  • Escalating unresolved discrepancies and proposing corrective measures to management
  • Preparing daily summary reports for management on reconciliation status and outstanding issues
  • Providing guidance and support to team members, ensuring adherence to processes and timelines
  • Ensuring compliance with financial policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls in all revenue reporting activities

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelors degree in Accountancy and ACCA Part II or related field and ACCA/ICAM Part II / CIMA from a recognized university
  • Those studying towards ACCA final stage will have an added advantage

Attributes and Competencies

  • Candidates must possess Financial Modelling knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong analytical skills
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and team management skills
