About the role

The Temporary Retail Operations Support Supervisor will play a vital supportive role for maintaining day-to-day operational excellence, financial compliance, and sales performance within the assigned retail network in the Southern region. Reporting to the Marketing and Operations Senior Coordinator, this role facilitates local execution by supervising a team of Retail Officers, ensuring that daily shop operations run smoothly, team targets are achieved, and standard compliance frameworks are consistently upheld across the portfolio.

Note:

The successful candidates will be offered a 9-months contract with a possibility of extension. The role is tenable in Zomba. Interested candidates must be willing to work in Zomba. One Acre Fund will provide support for employee relocation in-line with our internal relocation policy.

Job Description

Team Management and Leadership

  • Support Retail Officers in their daily tasks, helping with routine queries and providing administrative backing.
  • Participate in regular team check-ins, recording updates and sharing observations with the Retail Senior Coordinator and Specialist.
  • Help deliver standard onboarding and training materials, ensuring new staff feel prepared and supported.
  • Flag unresolved challenges or performance concerns to senior managers promptly, ensuring timely intervention.

Operational Oversight and Compliance

  • Tracking daily retail operational issues, resolving routine customer complaints, and escalating complex bottlenecks appropriately.
  • Understanding day-to-day shop operations and inventory management, while assisting with coordinated shop launches or closures.
  • Enforcing standard financial and operational compliance guidelines diligently.

Sales Reconciliation

  • Reviewing daily shop updates, identifying variances, and assisting in investigating and resolving stock discrepancies.
  • Tracking sales and performance data, flagging underperforming locations to management, and supporting localized corrective actions.

Administration and Organization

  • Keep shop staff records updated with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Assist in compiling data for monthly payroll submissions, ensuring timely and accurate reporting (this includes, but is not limited to, overtime and days worked).
  • Facilitate the submission of retail staff leave requests to human resources and ensure that reconciliations are done promptly.
  • Maintain clear records of issues, escalations, and resolutions to support team transparency.

Qualifications

Years of experience; qualifications

  • A minimum of a Diploma in Business Management, Finance or related.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience, preferably in Retail Shop operations.
  • Language: English required.

Skills

  • Organized and punctual.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service-oriented.
  • Data analytical mindset and skills.
