Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Value Chain Development Specialist to join our team in Malawi. This role will focus on strengthening agricultural value chains, improving farmer livelihoods, and contributing to food security in the region.
Responsibilities
- Identify and analyze opportunities for value chain development in key agricultural sectors.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of agricultural value chains.
- Facilitate linkages between farmers, agribusinesses, and other stakeholders.
- Provide technical assistance and capacity building to value chain actors.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of value chain interventions.
- Contribute to project design, proposal development, and reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Economics, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in value chain development, agricultural market systems, or related fields, preferably in a developing country context.
- Strong understanding of agricultural value chains, market dynamics, and rural development.
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership building, and facilitation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
Experience
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
