Background

Self Help Africa (SHA) is an international non-governmental organization committed to alleviating poverty and hunger in Africa. We work with smallholder farmers and communities to build sustainable livelihoods and improve food security.

Role Context

The Wash Field Facilitator will be responsible for implementing and monitoring WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) activities in project areas. This role requires strong community engagement skills and a good understanding of WASH principles and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the implementation of WASH activities in target communities.
  • Conduct community mobilization and awareness campaigns on hygiene promotion.
  • Support the construction and rehabilitation of water points and sanitation facilities.
  • Monitor the progress of WASH projects and collect data for reporting.
  • Train community members on operation and maintenance of WASH facilities.
  • Liaise with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Diploma in a relevant field such as Public Health, Environmental Health, Community Development, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in implementing WASH programs, preferably in a rural context.
  • Good understanding of WASH principles, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong community mobilization and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in local languages is an added advantage.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in WASH program implementation.

  • This position requires frequent travel to project sites.
