LifeCo Asset Management Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to take on the position of an Accountant – Investment Management tenable at its Head Office in Blantyre.

Reporting to the Investment Manager, the successful candidate will play a critical role in assisting the Investment Manager in handling the holistic accounting and operational duties for the Company, preparing management accounts and financial statements for the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the position will among others include the following:

• Ensure compliance with client investment mandates/agreements, maintain sound business practices and adherence to the Financial Services Act 2010, the Securities Act 2010, and all Financial Services Directives therein, as well as in compliance with all international accounting standards.
• Run the accounting & operations department for the Company with a hands-on approach.
• Handling bank reconciliation processes for daily, weekly and monthly reporting.
• Ensuring funds’ payments and investment transfers are executed promptly.
• Preparation of general ledger reconciliations, management accounts and financial statements.
• Preparation and filling of monthly tax returns (PAYE WHT and VAT) and ensuring client WHT receipts have been furnished to clients.
• Assist in the preparation of board packs.
• Assist in the preparation, crafting and implementation of strategic business plan and budget.
• Coordination of internal and external audit reviews and manage risk and compliance aspects of the Company.

• Exceptional numerical and analytical skills working with complex numbers
• Should have hands-on experience and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Good understanding of the financial markets industry
• Ability to meet multiple deadlines and targets in a high-pressure setting
• Good supervisory skills

Desired Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Certified ACCA, CIMA or ICAM candidates or those working towards the final stages of these qualifications will have an added advantage.
• At least 5 years of practical experience as an accountant.
