ROLE PURPOSE

PAJO INVESTMENTS is seeking a skilled and hands-on Agricultural Irrigation Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot irrigation systems for our agricultural projects and clients.

The successful candidate will ensure efficient water management, system performance, and support farmers with modern irrigation solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Installation & Setup

  • Install drip, sprinkler, and overhead irrigation systems for farms and projects
  • Lay pipes, connect pumps, filters, valves, and irrigation fittings
  • Set up solar-powered irrigation systems and integrate with power sources

2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Conduct regular inspection and servicing of irrigation equipment
  • Identify faults, leaks, blockages and carry out repairs
  • Test water pressure, flow rates, and system efficiency

3. Technical Support & Training

  • Advise clients/farmers on proper irrigation scheduling and water conservation
  • Train farm workers on operation and basic maintenance of irrigation systems
  • Prepare reports on installation progress and system performance

4. Site & Safety Management

  • Read and interpret irrigation layout plans and drawings
  • Ensure safe handling of tools, chemicals, and equipment
  • Ensure all works comply with health, safety, and environmental standards

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least Diploma in Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation Technology, Water Resources, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in irrigation system installation and maintenance
  • Knowledge of drip irrigation, sprinkler systems, pumps, and solar irrigation
  • Ability to read and interpret irrigation layout plans
  • Practical experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic plumbing
  • Physically fit and willing to work on farms and project sites

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Age: 22 – 30 years. Applicants residing in Blantyre will be given preference
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality work
  • Good communication and client service skills
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Team player with a strong commitment to safety and professionalism
  • Should have expertise in software packages

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Salary: MWK 200,000 – MWK 300,000 per month based on experience
  • Performance Commission: Based on projects completed
  • Other Benefits: Transport allowance, field allowance, PPE provided, training opportunities
  • Successful candidate will be required to report for work on the 1st of August 2026
