Background

Horizon Global Limited is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, knowledgeable, and results-oriented Agronomist to join its team in Blantyre. The successful candidate will provide technical agronomic support, promote best agricultural practices, and offer expert guidance on crop production, fertilizers, and crop protection products while supporting the company’s sales and customer service objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice and support on crop production, agronomic practices, and farm management.
  • Advise customers and farmers on crop nutrition, pest, weed, and disease management.
  • Recommend appropriate fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other crop protection products based on crop and soil requirements.
  • Conduct field visits, crop assessments, product demonstrations, and farmer training sessions.
  • Monitor crop performance and provide timely agronomic recommendations to improve crop productivity.
  • Prepare technical reports, field visit reports, and agronomic recommendations.
  • Provide technical support to the Sales and Marketing team through customer training and product demonstrations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, distributors, agro-dealers, and other stakeholders.
  • Keep abreast of emerging agricultural technologies, products, and best farming practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Sound knowledge of crop production, soil fertility, fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other agricultural chemicals.
  • A minimum of two (4) years’ relevant experience in agronomy, agricultural extension, or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within assigned areas.
