Job Description Old Mutual Investment Group is seeking for a highly skilled Agronomist with proven experience to support the execution of its strategic objectives. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in cash crops, soil and crop nutrition, pest and disease control, and high yielding quality crops.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Crop Management & Advisory: Providing guidance on crop selection, rotation practices, planting schedules, and harvesting methods suited to local environmental conditions.
  • Soil Health & Fertility Management: Conducting soil assessments and recommending appropriate fertilization, liming, and soil improvement strategies to maintain long-term productivity.
  • Pest, Disease & Weed Control: Monitoring crop conditions and advising on integrated pest and disease management practices, including chemical and non-chemical solutions.
  • Field Monitoring & Data Collection: Regularly inspecting fields to assess crop performance, identifying risks early, and collecting data to inform decision-making.
  • Research & Innovation: Applying current agricultural research and trial new techniques, inputs, or crop varieties to improve efficiency and sustainability.
  • Sustainable Farming Practices: Promoting environmentally responsible approaches, including conservation agriculture, efficient water use, and soil preservation.
  • Farmer/Stakeholder Support: Working closely with farmers, farm managers, and other stakeholders to provide practical recommendations and ensuring implementation of best practices.
  • Planning & Reporting: Developing seasonal crop plans, document field activities, and reporting on crop performance, inputs, and outcomes.
