Overview

The Assistant Accountant shall report to the Accountant. S/He will be responsible for:

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from accredited and reputable Institution
• Three years experience in similar position and roles
• Be a registered member of Malawi Accountants Board (MAB) and Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM)
• Be able to work with minimum supervision
• Have ability to work under pressure
• Have knowledge in QuickBooks accounting package
• Have high degree of integrity and professionalism.

• Validating invoices, requisitions and other documents against items or services
• Maintaining cashbook and other ledgers as necessary on monthly basis
• Issuing and maintain receipts and other acknowledgement documents
• Maintaining accounting records and files in both electronic and physical form
• Preparing monthly bank and other reconciliations
• Raising and maintaining payment vouchers
• Posting transactions into the accounting packages
• Stores management e.g. prepare requisitions, receipting, issuing, updating records and preparing reports
• Any other relevant duties assigned from time to time.
