Build Africa is Malawi’s Megastore brand providing a wide range of Hardware & Homeware supplies.

We are requiring the services of a fully qualified and competent Barista.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based drinks, teas and other beverages to company standards.
• Operate coffee machines, grinders and other café equipment safely and efficiently.
• Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and handle payments.
• Maintain cleanliness of the coffee bar, equipment and seating areas.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with restocking supplies.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards at all times.
• Handle customer queries and resolve minor complaints professionally.
• Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service.
• Open and close the café according to operational procedures.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and consistency in drink preparation.
• Basic cash-handling and POS system skills.
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 2 years previous barista or hospitality experience preferred.
• Knowledge of coffee preparation and beverage presentation.
• Food safety or hygiene certification is a plus.

Working Conditions:

• Shift work including weekends and public holidays.
• Standing for extended periods.
• Fast-paced café environment.
