About the Opportunity

Shacon Ltd is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join its team as Bricklayers with strong plastering and finishing skills.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out brickwork, blockwork, plastering, and finishing works on construction projects. The role requires producing high-quality workmanship, including smooth finishes, accurate measurements, and proper structural alignment while ensuring all work complies with project specifications and safety standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Construct brick walls, block walls, partitions, and other masonry structures.
  • Carry out plastering works, including internal and external finishes.
  • Perform quality finishing works such as smooth surfaces, rendering, and decorative finishes.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure proper alignment, levels, and measurements during construction activities.
  • Prepare and apply mortar, plaster, and other construction materials.
  • Repair and maintain masonry structures as required.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures on site.

Minimum Requirements

  • Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent.
  • Trade Test Certificate Grade 1 or Grade 2 in Bricklaying/Masonry will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ practical experience as a Bricklayer.
  • Strong skills in plastering and finishing works.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in construction projects will be an added advantage.
