We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Civil Works Site Engineer to oversee and manage civil construction activities for telecom infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in site acquisition, construction quality, and project execution. This role requires a proactive leader capable of managing multiple site activities, ensuring strict adherence to quality standards, and coordinating effectively between office management and on-site teams.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Supervise and manage all on-site civil works activities, including tower erection, compound development, shelter installation, and access road construction.
  • Ensure all site construction activities are delivered to the highest quality standards, strictly adhering to design specifications and safety regulations.
  • Support and maintain project schedules, ensuring that site milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including transmission, power, and installation crews, to ensure seamless site handovers.
  • Manage multiple site activities simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to optimize resource allocation and productivity.
  • Identify potential site risks and technical issues, implementing effective troubleshooting and problem-solving solutions proactively.
  • Monitor site progress vigilantly, conducting regular inspections to ensure workmanship meets required standards.
  • Oversee audit processes, ensuring that all findings and non-conformities are corrected immediately and that preventive measures are implemented to avoid recurrence.
  • Liaise effectively between office management and on-site execution teams, acting as the key point of contact for external vendors, contractors, and customers.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed site reports, documentation, and quality records.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects with a strong focus on quality and compliance.
  • Candidates must have permanent legal authorization to work in Malawi. Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are not available. Only applicants currently residing in Malawi with valid work rights will be considered.

Experience needed

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in telecom civil works, site construction, or related telecom infrastructure projects.
