BACKGROUND

Banja La Mtsogolo (BLM) is a Malawian Non-Governmental Healthcare Organization established in 1987. BLM provides quality Family Planning and Reproductive Healthcare services, including HIV/AIDS information and interventions. BLM is a senior member of the Marie Stopes International (MSI) Partnership, which operates in 43 countries.

We exist to improve the quality of life in Malawi through family planning and reproductive healthcare services. We serve over 800,000 clients annually and make a significant contribution to national family planning objectives. The organization has national coverage, operating through 23 clinics and numerous outreach clinic sites.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position:

Clinician Outreach (5 months)

Location: Mangochi

Reporting line : HSS and Outreach Coordinator

Role purpose

Providing overall Clinical Support in steering Quality clinical services and operations of the Outreach Team towards efficiency and effectiveness; implementing safe, sound and Holistic SRH management practices

Key responsibilities

Service provision

  • Counsel clients and provide advice and choice for family planning, sexual transmitted infections, HIV /AIDs and all other SRH services.
  • Perform surgical procedures in outreach sites (BTLs, Implant insertion / removal, IUD insertion/removal).

Client care

  • In line with BLM standards, provide care to all clients, which has the following qualities: Consistent, Reliable, Courteous, Value for money, Prompt and excellent, as perceived and judged by customers
  • Provide ‘vocal local’, an MSI conversation technique used to relax clients during procedures.

Safe keeping of clinical records

  • Routinely maintain and safeguard accurate clinical records of all procedures and produce reports as necessary and when requested.

Marketing and business development

  • Support Team Leader in ensuring that the Team is Coast effective (Coast Per CYP), and help in increasing number and percentage of satisfied clients (retain existing clients and ‘cross-sell’ BLM services); support and take part in BLM and partner promotional events as requested and delegated.

General management

  • Support Team Leader on Correct storage and forecasting of stock minimum and maximum levels
  • Support Team Leader on Submission of monthly stock reports.

Clinical Quality Assurance

  • Support Team Leader in making sure there is Adherence to Clinical Quality standards in the Team.
  • Managing, reporting, and following up on Clinical Incidents.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Minimum of Diploma in Clinical Medicine.
  • Dully Registered with the Medical Council of Malawi.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience to significant exposure in modern Family planning practices and procedures.

Key Competencies and Skills

  • Basic knowledge in computer packages.
  • Experience and extensive knowledge of modern family Planning services and procedures, and minimum standards at community level.
  • Thorough knowledge of the use and effects of various emergency drugs.
  • General knowledge of obstetrics and gynaecology.
  • Attention to detail.
