Background
Zomba Diocese Health Commission operates under the Social Directorate of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba. Its mission is to advance the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by promoting human life and providing preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services in a holistic manner. This is achieved through participation in collaborative networks and partnerships, aligned with the needs and capacities of the communities, and in accordance with Catholic core values and principles, to ensure the delivery of the high- quality services, the Commission is seeking to recruit motivated and experienced individuals for the following vacant positions at one of its health facilities St. Robert Health Centre (Sitima).
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain therapeutic relationship with patients, guardians and fellow health workers and use appropriate communication skills at all times
- Conduct comprehensive assessment of patients/clients needing midwifery services;
- Use the midwifery process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate midwifery care;
- Identify actual and potential needs of women throughout the maternity cycle and provide the necessary care, management and refer where appropriate
- Manage selected gynecological and obstetrical problems such as post Abortion Care; Implement measures for reducing maternal and infant morbidity and mortality;
- Promote preconception health and that of adolescents with emphasis on the girl child;
- Adhere to standard precautions of infection preventives
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by management
Qualifications
- Applicants must be in possession of a certificate of Community Midwifery from recognized institution of Malawi.
- Applicants must be registered with Midwives Council.
