About the Role
The Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, labor laws, and internal regulations. The successful candidate will coordinate and handle disciplinary matters, conduct investigations, monitor compliance issues, and promote ethical conduct across company operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, among other duties, the following:
- Coordinate and conduct disciplinary hearings in accordance with company procedures and labor laws.
- Prepare disciplinary charges, notices, hearing documents, and outcome reports.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of disciplinary and investigation records.
- Advise management on disciplinary procedures, labor compliance, and risk management matters.
- Monitor compliance with company policies, conditions of service, and statutory requirements.
- Follow up on the implementation of disciplinary outcomes and corrective actions.
- Conduct compliance audits and inspections within company departments and farms.
- Train supervisors and managers on disciplinary procedures and compliance requirements.
- Prepare periodic reports on disciplinary cases, investigations, and compliance trends.
- Promote ethical conduct and a culture of accountability within the organization.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Law, Business Administration, Criminology, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in handling disciplinary hearings, investigations, compliance, or labor relations.
- Sound knowledge of Malawi Labour Laws and disciplinary procedures.
- Strong investigation, report-writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism and integrity.
- Good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Experience in a manufacturing, farming, or production environment will be an added advantage.
