Splash International is implementing a WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) programme in Malawi, focused on improving school environments through data-driven monitoring, learning, and evaluation.
Job Overview
The Data Collectors will support school-based surveys by collecting, recording, and reporting high-quality data in public schools. This role is key to ensuring accurate monitoring and evaluation of WASH programme activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structured surveys in public schools using standard tools
- Carry out Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with teachers, students, and school management
- Observe and assess WASH infrastructure and sanitation facilities
- Record data on availability, usage, and functionality of facilities
- Document hygiene behaviors (e.g., handwashing practices)
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry (digital or paper-based)
- Follow ethical and safeguarding standards
- Submit daily progress reports to supervisors
Contract Details
Duration: 1 year (call-down basis)
Engagement based on assignment rounds (minimum 5 days each)
Payment per assignment (based on days worked)
No payment for incomplete or poor-quality work
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum Diploma in Education, Social Sciences, Statistics, Public Health, or related field
- Experience in surveys, research, or data collection (especially in schools)
- Familiarity with tools like ODK, Kobo, SurveyCTO, or CommCare (added advantage)
- Strong communication skills (English & local languages)
- Basic computer skills (MS Word & Excel)
- Ability to travel and work in field conditions
