Description

Our client, an NGO that works tirelessly across developing nations to strengthen education systems, ensuring access, equity, and excellence in learning for all, is looking to hire Education Advisors to join their team. The Education Advisors will ensure ongoing implementation of the organization’s projects with all other departments, specifically the Strategic Advisors in Malawi and with the Global Strategic Education Advisors at Global Office.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Co-design, develop, coordinate and maintain strategies that enhance close working relationships with staff at all levels and other relevant partners for the implementation, monitoring, institutionalization and further scaling of catch up.
  • Contribute to the sustainability deliverables of the catch-up project within the organization.
  • Prepare, contribute and oversee the quality of innovative hub activities.
  • Support the development of innovation proposals with expertise and experience collected from the field offices.
  • Contribute to the ongoing implementation of the organization’s catch-up projects.
  • Contribute to the identification, formulation, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project in order to realize educational change processes supported by the project.
  • Offer technical advice, guidance and support to internal colleagues to achieve project results and to partners in order to realize educational change processes supported by the project.
  • Take up a variety of roles in the capacity development process of the partners according to the needs of the partner and particular situations and phases of the programme
  • Ensure quality is built into catch up projects and that clear, well thought through approaches are developed, implemented, reviewed and documented.
  • Keep abreast of policy trends, new developments and latest research and thinking in education and international development by external and internal networking and share new insights with partners and the internal organization.

Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in education (or similar), A master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • Should have at least 3 years’ working experience in a similar role, in the international development sector.
  • Extensive proven expertise in Catch Up and / or FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy)
  • Experience working in Innovation hubs or learning labs is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with developing and implementing professional development trajectories for a wide range of education stakeholders (teachers, school leaders, and officials).
  • Experience working with stakeholders in the Malawian education eco-system
  • An in-depth understanding of national education systems and the latest developments in the education sector
  • Knowledge of and experience with programme management, preferably project cycle management.
  • Experience with change management and capacity development processes in the context of educational institutions.
  • Excellent computer skills in a full range of software, including MS office, such as TEAMS, Outlook, and social tools.
  • Fluent in speaking English and one local language.
  • Excellent written communication skills in English, including writing, conversing and presenting.
  • Experience of working in a multicultural team.
  • Should be able and willing to travel occasionally for short periods of time (approximately 1 week per month).
