Background
Established in 1896, Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) is a premier member-based social and sports organization in Blantyre offering diverse facilities including golf, tennis, football, snooker, and catering services. Dedicated to serving the community and members with high standards of service and hospitality, BSC is looking for a suitably qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Finance Intern (Accounts) in our Finance Department.
Summary of Position
Under the mentorship of the Accountant and the Finance Manager, the postholder will assist with daily accounting tasks and office duties in the Finance Department, gaining valuable hands-on experience and guidance from an experienced team.
Key Responsibilities
- Check daily cash sales reports.
- Check restaurant receipts and sales slips.
- Enter daily cash payments and prepare quick reports.
- File financial papers neatly and on time.
- Check food and drink deliveries against bills and update stock cards.
- Count food and drink stock twice a month in bars and storage areas.
- Match cash collected using the Hotel Master system and prepare reports.
- Perform unannounced stock checks in the main storage room.
- Perform unannounced cash checks on restaurant cashiers.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required
- Diploma or Certificate in Financial Accounting (ICAM or ACCA), Business Management, or a related field obtained between 2023 and the present.
- Proficient in computer packages, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Candidates based in Blantyre city and surrounding districts or areas will have an added advantage.
