POSITION: FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION
Location: Blantyre
OVERVIEW
Workforce Recruitment Services seeks to recruit for the following position on behalf of a Client.
1. Position Overview
To support the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information through effective day-to-day accounting, compliance, and reporting processes, while contributing to group reporting requirements and strengthening financial controls across the business.
This role is designed for a hands-on accountant who is operationally strong, commercially aware, and capable of integrating seamlessly into a structured group finance environment operating across multiple African jurisdictions.
2. Core Accountability Areas
- Financial Close, Reporting & Data Integrity
- Prepare monthly management accounts within group reporting deadlines.
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare supporting schedules and reconciliations (bank, receivables, payables, inventory, accruals, and fixed assets).
- Assist in preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and group policies.
- Ensure alignment of local reporting with group consolidation requirements.
- Maintain compliance documentation and statutory registers.
Internal Controls & Governance
- Perform routine internal control checks and assist in strengthening financial control processes.
- Support audit processes (external and internal), including preparation of audit files and resolution of audit queries.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and group financial control standards.
Group Reporting & Cross-Functional Support
- Contribute to group reporting packs and consolidation requirements.
- Provide financial data and analysis to operations, procurement, HR, and management teams.
- Support implementation of finance systems improvements and reporting enhancements.
- Perform any other reasonable and lawful duties as may be required across functions in support of financial operations and broader business objectives.
3. Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Education & Professional Development
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or actively studying towards a widely recognised qualification.
Experience
- 2+ years relevant accounting experience.
- Exposure to IFRS-based reporting.
- Experience in audit, FMCG, manufacturing, agriculture, or distribution environments will be advantageous.
- Exposure to multi-entity or group reporting environments preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS.
- Sound understanding of tax and statutory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
- Experience with ERP systems (Sage, SAP, or similar).
- Strong financial modelling and analytical capability.
4. Behavioural Competencies
- High level of integrity and professional ethics.
- Strong personality with the confidence to engage stakeholders constructively.
- Fast learner with the ability to grasp systems and processes quickly.
- Ability to train and support other staff members where required.
- Collaborative team player who works effectively across functions and cultures.
- Able to work under pressure and meet strict reporting deadlines.
- Solution-oriented Mind set with a continuous improvement approach.
