OVERVIEW

Zagaf Transport is inviting applications from experienced and skilled Fitters to join its maintenance team in Blantyre.

The successful candidates will be responsible for trailer fabrication, repairs, installation, inspections, and maintenance while ensuring all work meets the company’s quality, safety, and operational standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Trailer Fabrication and Maintenance

• Fabricate, install, repair, and maintain trailer bodies, frames, axles, brakes, couplings, and related components.
• Perform welding, cutting, and fitting of trailer parts.
• Inspect trailers for defects and ensure repairs meet required safety standards.
• Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on trailer systems.

Workshop Operations

• Collaborate with mechanics and automotive electricians during maintenance and repair activities.
• Use measuring tools, jigs, and workshop equipment to ensure accurate fitting.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs completed and parts used.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants should possess:

• Malawi Craft Certificate in Fitting, Welding, or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working on trailers or truck bodies.
• Experience with trailer braking systems, suspension systems, and couplings.
• Welding skills in MIG and MMA welding.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Valid manual driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
