About the role

Based in our Malawi office, this IT Intern will support the local IT team in managing day-to-day infrastructure and providing first-line technical support to staff. This is a learning-focused role suited to a motivated graduate eager to gain hands-on experience in IT support and systems administration in a fast-paced, multi-market environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining local IT infrastructure including servers, networks, and endpoint devices.
  • Provide first-line technical support to Malawi-based staff under supervision, helping to resolve issues promptly.
  • Support network security, data backup, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Assist with deployment of enterprise software, user accounts, and access permissions.
  • Support audio/video conferencing and collaboration tools for the office.
  • Help maintain the IT asset inventory.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with organisational IT policies and local regulations.
  • Support IT training and orientation for new staff members.
  • Assist with basic application and system health monitoring under guidance from senior team members.
  • Help document and maintain IT runbooks and incident records.
  • Support in-country IT and operations teams under supervision to assist with issue resolution.

Skills and Experience

  • Recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN) and Windows/Linux environments
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Familiarity with cloud services such as Microsoft 365 or Azure.
  • Basic awareness of IT security best practices.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA IT Fundamentals, ITIL Foundation, or similar.
