HFHM is excited to announce recruitment for key positions tenable at the National Office in Lilongwe, to support the rollout of our 2025–2030 Country Strategic Plan. This strategy focuses on three core pillars:

  • Building more and better homes
  • Transforming housing systems
  • Inspiring action for housing — through partnerships, innovation, and volunteerism

1. PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Reporting to the National Director, the Program Director will serve as the second most senior leader, with strategic and program management oversight accountable for delivering the outcomes of HFHM through leadership across projects/programs and upwards with the senior management team and the governance structures.  The position holder shall oversee the quality of the program ensuring compliance with HFHM Quality Standards and donor guidelines, while fostering innovation to enhance effectiveness and impact ensuring the successful implementation of the new HFHM Strategic Plan.

 

2. RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT, PARTNERSHIPS AND SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER

The position holder will lead all fundraising efforts including prospecting and acquiring potential investors & donors locally as well as internationally; managing donor and partner engagement, oversee sustainability efforts, youth and volunteer engagements (local and global), policy influencing and advocacy, and communications. The position holder’s major role will be to strengthen HFHM’s external engagements and long-term financial resilience ensuring sustainability of operations for program delivery.

3. RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT AND PARTNERSHIP SPECIALIST

The RDP Specialist a leading strategist and expert on fundraising, partnerships, and donor relations of Habitat Malawi. Reporting to the Resource Development and Sustainability Manager, the Specialist plays a central role in driving the organization’s growth and sustainability agenda through innovative resource mobilization, strategic communication, and high-impact partnerships. The Specialist will in alignment to HFH Malawi Strategic plan 2025- 2030, coordinate, plan, and manage public and private sector partnerships to expand the organization’s reach and impact.

 

 4. POLICY AND ADVOCACY SPECIALIST

The Policy and Advocacy Specialist is the technical lead for advancing HFHM’s policy agenda to transform Malawi’s housing ecosystem. The role works to overcome systemic barriers to equitable housing by developing evidence-based policy solutions and driving impactful advocacy campaigns. Through strategic alliances with government, civil society, and the private sector, the Specialist works to ensure equitable access to quality, affordable, and climate-resilient housing, directly contributing to the strategic goal of influencing policy changes that benefit 2 million people.

 

5. MEAL SPECIALIST

The MEAL Specialist is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the quality, accountability, and evidence-based learning for all programs in alignment with the country strategy. The Specialist will provide technical leadership in the design and implementation of a MEAL system, ensuring it effectively measures program impact and informs strategic decision-making. The Specialist will champion the use of data for adaptive management, lead high-level evaluations, and strengthen the capacity of staff and partners in MEAL principles. The specialist is accountable for ensuring that robust evidence on program results and learning is systematically captured, communicated, and utilized to enhance current programming and shape future strategy.

 

6. HABITABILITY AND HOUSING DISASTER RISK REDUCTION (HDRR) MANAGER

The Habitability and Housing Disaster Risk Reduction (HDRR) Manager provides strategic leadership and technical oversight for Habitat for Humanity Malawi’s (HFHM) work on resilient, inclusive, and climate-adapted housing solutions. The position leads to the integration of habitability, safety, and disaster resilience principles into all HFHM programs to ensure that every supported household has access to a home that is safe, healthy, dignified, and climate resilient.

This role bridges HFHM’s Build More and Better Homes and Transform Housing Systems pillars, as defined in the Strategic Plan (2025–2030), ensuring that all housing projects, whether through direct construction, slum upgrading, or disaster recovery, meet quality, safety, and sustainability standards.

7. CONSTRUCTION SPECIALIST

The Construction Specialist provides technical leadership, quality assurance, and construction management expertise to ensure that all HFH Malawi housing, WASH, and infrastructure projects are designed, built, and maintained in line with

Habitat for Humanity’s global construction quality standards, the Malawi National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) regulations, and HFHM’s habitability framework.

This role supports the implementation of HFHM’s Strategic Plan 2025–2030, under the Build More and Better Homes and Transform Housing Systems pillars, by ensuring that homes and community infrastructure are safe, affordable, durable, environmentally sustainable, and resilient to climate risks.

 

8. HOUSING DISASTER RISK REDUCTION (HDRR) SPECIALIST

 The Housing Disaster Risk Reduction (HDRR) Specialist provides technical, analytical, and operational leadership for Habitat for Humanity Malawi’s (HFHM) initiatives in disaster preparedness, housing resilience, recovery, and urban slum upgrading. The position ensures that HFHM’s housing and settlement interventions strengthen community resilience, reduce disaster vulnerability, and promote safe, inclusive, and sustainable living environments, especially in informal settlements and disaster-affected areas.

Reporting to the Habitability and HDRR Manager, the Specialist leads planning, coordination, and management of HDRR and housing projects, supporting both humanitarian and development goals.

 

9. FINANCE AND OPERATIONS MANAGER

This is a Senior Management position that provides leadership and guidance to the Financial Management, Procurement  and ICT Units of the organization and ensures that all financial resources are recorded, tracked, and accounted for and used in fulfilment of the core mission of the organization of building and renovating houses and provision of basic services that ensure families live in decent houses and decent communities.

The position also initiates policies and procedures that ensure the effective and efficient use of financial resources.

 

10. FINANCE SPECIALIST

 Reporting to the Finance and Operations Manager, the Finance Specialist is a senior member of the Finance Team and is responsible for timely and accurate processing of transactions and preparation and presentation of Project Financial reports to Donors and Management Accounts to SMT and ensuring that records are properly filed.

 

11. FINANCE OFFICER

 The Finance Officer – is a member of the finance team supporting the Finance Specialist in ensuring adherence to financial policies, project policies and procedures, regulations, controls, and reporting systems.

 

12. PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST

 The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for managing the procurement function to ensure efficient acquisition of goods, works, and services in line with Habitat for Humanity Malawi’s policies and donor requirements. The role ensures that procurement processes are timely, transparent, compliant, and provide value for money.

 14. HUMAN RESOURCE, LEARNING AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (HRLOD)

Under the leadership and direction of the National Director, the Manager, Human Resources, Learning and Organization Development (LOD) works collaboratively with Heads of Departments to develop and support Habitat for Humanity Malawi strategies that will increase the quality and impact of Habitat for Humanity Malawi (HFHM) programs. The HRLOD Manager will oversee the delivery of services and solutions to the organization in the following areas: Talent management & Employee Relations, Learning & Organizational Development, Performance & Change Management, Safeguarding & DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion).

 

 15. HUMAN RESOURCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

The primary responsibility of this position is to support the HRLOD to Implement, coordinate and monitor Human Resource (HR) policies, guidelines and procedures and all related activities in accordance with the established HFH Malawi HR policies and guidelines as well as the Malawi statutory requirements and standards, which include staff recruitment, performance management, training, learning and organizational development, retention and exit processes and executive support.

The positions support in facilities management, fleet management, Inventory and Asset management and Office supplies management.

 

16. YOUTH AND VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT OFFICER

The Youth Volunteer Engagement (YVE) Coordinator is a coordinating role that supports Habitat for Humanity Malawi’s volunteer engagement activities. This position aligns with the HFH Malawi Country Strategic Plan 2025–2030, which aims to inspire collective action toward improving housing. The YVE Coordinator leads the development and implementation of strategies that empower and affirm youth, local and global volunteers as informed and empowered, passionate, active engagers and have a voice in advancing housing initiatives for Habitat for Humanity Malawi. Reporting to the Resource Development, Partnership and Sustainability Manager, the position manages the development of volunteer engagement strategies, coordinates operations for local and international volunteers and their sending institutions, maintains the volunteer database, and leads community management and content creation for both new and traditional media. The role also provides technical guidance in developing and implementing activities that strengthen linkages with advocacy (in collaboration with the Advocacy and Policy Specialist) and ensures coordinated efforts with the Resource Development and Partnership Specialist to solicit and steward resources for the program.
