About the Role:

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for conducting routine laboratory investigations, collecting and processing specimens, maintaining laboratory records, ensuring quality control procedures are followed, and supporting clinicians with timely and accurate laboratory results. The incumbent will actively participate in laboratory testing, quality assurance activities, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and implementation of laboratory safety standards.

Education Qualifications

  • Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology or Biomedical Sciences from a recognized institution.
  • Registered with the Medical Council of Malawi.
  • Minimum of two (2) year experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated competency in routine laboratory testing.
  • Training in Laboratory Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience with electronic laboratory information systems.
  • Experience working in private healthcare facilities.
  • Experience working in a private healthcare setting will be an added advantage.
  • Strong customer care and client service orientation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
