INTRODUCTION

Telekom Networks Malawi Plc (TNM), a leading telecommunications service provider, invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and highly motivated individuals to fill the position of Legal Manager, reporting to the Legal and Regulatory Director.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver enterprise-wide legal advice and support based on thorough analysis of law and facts.
  • Advise on and support M&A and other transactions, including due diligence, regulatory approvals, and transaction structuring.
  • Proactively identify, analyse, and advise on emerging legal issues.
  • Monitor and analyze upcoming laws affecting TNM and its subsidiaries and provide timely input on draft laws.
  • Advocate for legal reforms that foster a conducive business environment and support sustainable economic growth.
  • Identify legal risks and emerging trends within the company, implement mitigation measures, and provide internal training to business units on key risk areas.
  • Negotiate, draft, and review contracts to ensure maximum risk mitigation and secure TN’s interests.
  • Manage contractual disputes and exits effectively.
  • Assist in shaping and executing TNM’s dispute prevention and resolution strategy.
  • Manage the registration and protection of TNM’s intellectual and proprietary rights.
  • Review and advise on company policies, ensuring they are legally compliant and aligned across the company.
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc legal reports.
  • Provide company secretarial support to TNM’s subsidiaries.

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Laws Degree from an accredited University.
  • Admitted to the Malawi Bar, with a current Practicing License.
  • Master’s degree in Company Law, Commercial Law, Telecommunications law or similar (Desirable).
  • Minimum of five years’ post-admission legal experience in a fast-paced environment, either in-house or at a law firm.
