About the Employer / Role

Malawi College of Education (MCE) is seeking a qualified Librarian to manage the College library and information resources. The successful candidate will support teaching, learning and research by managing print and digital collections while promoting information literacy among students and staff.

Key Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Library and Information Systems.
  • Knowledge of integrated library management systems and digital library technologies.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' relevant experience in an academic library.
  • Experience in cataloguing, classification, electronic databases and digital repositories.
  • Experience supporting research and information literacy programmes.
  • Excellent ICT, organisational and customer service skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the College library and information resources.
  • Develop and implement library policies and procedures.
  • Acquire, catalogue and maintain print and electronic resources.
  • Support teaching, learning and research through information services.
  • Train students and staff in information literacy.
  • Manage electronic databases and digital library systems.
  • Prepare library reports and statistics.
  • Preserve library collections effectively.
  • Manage the College library and information resources.
