Background

Seed Co Malawi Limited invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Loss Control Officer.

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Loss Control Officer will be responsible for safeguarding company assets, employees, and customers through effective security management, surveillance, and loss prevention systems. The role will interface with an independent security services provider and coordinate all security-related activities.

The position exists to develop, implement, and manage comprehensive security and loss control systems—including CCTV surveillance, access control, and risk mitigation frameworks—to minimize losses, ensure compliance, and promote a safe and secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the contracted security services provider and enforce security procedures across all sites.
  • Manage access control systems, monitor vehicle movements, and maintain perimeter security.
  • Conduct routine and surprise security inspections.
  • Ensure 24/7 CCTV coverage, proper functioning, and secure storage of footage.
  • Identify coverage gaps, recommend improvements, and use footage for investigations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Develop loss prevention programs to minimize theft, fraud, and pilferage.
  • Perform audits and analyze loss trends to recommend corrective actions.
  • Respond to, investigate, and report security incidents.
  • Maintain a centralized incident register and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Liaise with law enforcement and internal/external stakeholders as required.
  • Develop and implement emergency plans, conduct drills, and support continuity planning for critical operations.
  • Assist in security budgeting and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
  • Provide security and CCTV awareness training to employees and contractors.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in security systems and technology.
  • Integrate CCTV, alarms, and access control systems and benchmark practices against industry standards.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Security Management, Law Enforcement, Security Studies or Criminology or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in security management, preferably in a government security agency, corporate or industrial setting.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of security principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Possession of security-related certifications, such as Certified Security Professional (CSP) and those with experience in Malawi Police Service or Malawi Defence Force Training.
