Job Description
The Machine Specialist is responsible to provide specialized technical services to the CCBSA manufacturing division, through the maintenance, repairs and optimization of the plant and associated machines in order to ensure machine availability and product quality at minimum cost without sacrificing standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Daily Routines and Maintenance
- Maintain all required asset care work and ensure compliance and alignment with asset care standards in order to keep equipment in basic condition.
- Carry out all maintenance and cleaning day work in accordance with the schedule.
- Interpret the Loss and Waste analysis and do problem solving.
- Modify and improve projects where required.
- Conduct machine audits and provide the Maintenance Planner and Controller with recommendations.
- Conduct the installation of new equipment.
- Develop work instructions related to mechanical equipment and ensure alignment across manufacturing and technical for the same machines.
- Ensure all machines have standardized work instructions in place that align across technical plants nationally.
- Monitor and manage performance of equipment.
- Optimize machine performance and lay-out.
- Act as the custodian of the maintenance programme for area of responsibility, e.g. effectiveness of preventative programmes, ensuring proactive measures and steps are executed to maintain optimal machine availability and reduction of downtime.
- Demonstrate the ability to work shifts and be available on call-out where necessary.
- Coach and assess the competence of Operators driving the FLDP programme to timeous conclusion in order to have optimal capability.
- Provide Specialist knowledge and focus on continuous improvement of process capability.
- Provide Subject matter expertise with specialist diagnostic skills.
- Input accurate information onto the SAP system to ensure historical information is correct and up to date for effective record keeping and analytics.
Skills, Experience & Education
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an FMCG environment.
- PC literacy essential – Microsoft packages.
- Knowledge of SAP will be an advantage.
