Job Description
The Maintenance Controller is responsible to lead and support the technical team; to pro-actively ensure proper execution of maintenance on line equipment and to provide professional technical support to the Shift Team Leader and his team so that reliability and effectiveness of the line is maximized, thereby reducing losses and minimizing risks.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning and Control
- Manage the maintenance of machines.
- Manage the maintenance schedule.
- Manage the breakdown repairs.
- Provide technical support service.
- Formulate and control repairs and maintain the budget (including engineering spares).
- Manage and review the maintenance program.
- Validate and verify the spares list.
Daily Routines
- Maintain a safe work area.
- Delegate and monitor work activities.
- Manage continuous improvement projects.
- Solve situational problems.
- Conduct audits.
- Perform downtime reconciliations.
- Initiate work permits and signs off.
People Management
- Monitor performance trends in the team and develop and implement capability enhancement plans against KPIs.
- Manage personal development and performance.
- Cascade plant manufacturing goals into team and monitor execution ensuring continuous coaching, one-on-ones and provision of support to team members.
- Continuously assess candidates for development purposes ensuring that competency acquisition tracks according to plan.
- Plan and carry out job observations.
- Maintain the effective acquisition and application of technical knowledge and principles with regards to maintenance planning and control.
Skills, Experience & Education
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- 3-5 years technical experience in a bottling environment will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of bottling processes and principles.
