OVERVIEW
The Department of National Parks and Wildlife under the Ministry of Industrialization, Business, Trade and Tourism invites applications from suitably qualified and dedicated individuals to fill the position below:
QUALIFICATION
Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with credit passes in English and Mathematics plus at least one credit pass in the following subjects: Geography, Agriculture and Biology.Education
Serving officers must possess Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) and have a minimum of four (4) years’ work experience in any of the following positions within National Parks and Wildlife Reserves and Sanctuaries:
- Messenger (Grade P)
- Security Guard (Grade P)
- Fence Attendant (Grade Q) with Basic Anti-Poaching Certificate (BAP)
Honorary Rangers who possess both MSCE and Basic Anti-Poaching Certificate (BAP) are encouraged to apply.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct law enforcement and anti-poaching patrols in protected areas.
- Collect ecological and wildlife monitoring data.
- Participate in wildlife crime investigations and problem animal control.
- Provide environmental education, community wildlife extension, and resource-use guidance.
- Offer visitor interpretation and tour guiding services.
- Provide security to protected areas, including manning entry and exit points and designated ports of entry.
- Safeguard departmental property and support conservation operations.
- Conduct law enforcement and anti-poaching patrols in protected areas.
