OVERVIEW

A leading Industrial Catering Services Company based in Lilongwe is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Quality Assurance Officer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective implementation of quality assurance systems, maintaining food safety standards, monitoring production processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure timely and effective implementation of company policies, procedures, and activities related to quality assurance of processed meals.
  • Maintain close working relationships with supervisory personnel to ensure product quality, identify problems, and improve productivity.
  • Review production batch records and related documents to verify compliance with production processes, quality checks, testing, sampling, and sanitation requirements.
  • Audit quality control processes for raw materials, labels, and meals to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor implementation of food safety programmes including:
    • Good Hygiene Practices (GHP)
    • HACCP
    • Allergen Control
    • Cleaning and Sanitation Programmes
    • Pest Control
    • Equipment Calibration
    • Organic Certification requirements
  • Assist in investigating and resolving quality-related issues, including customer complaints.
  • Participate in regulatory, third-party, and customer audits and inspections.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, including IMS ISO audits and customer audits.
  • Support corrective action implementation following audit findings.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science, preferably in:
    • Food Science
    • Or a related field

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience as a Quality Assurance Technician in dietary supplements or a related food production environment.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of food quality assurance and food safety systems.
  • Good understanding of HACCP and quality control procedures.
  • Ability to conduct audits and prepare quality reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively with production and supervisory teams.

CERTIFICATIONS (ADDED ADVANTAGE)

  • Valid competency certificates in:
    • HACCP Certification.
    • Allergen Control Training.
    • Food Recall Training.
    • 21 CFR Part 111 Training Certifications.
