Background

Youth Net and Counselling (YONECO) is strengthening its programmes at YONECO FM, a unit within Y Net Investments, the business arm of YONECO. The organisation is inviting suitably qualified candidates to join its teams in its Zomba, Lilongwe and Mzuzu offices. Successful candidates will help produce quality radio programming and deliver accurate, engaging content to listeners.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Journalism or Communication.
  • At least 3 years' relevant work experience.
  • Well-modulated and pleasant voice with the ability to speak persuasively and intelligently.
  • Strong editorial skills and sound news judgment.
  • Skills in news writing and reporting.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Good command of written and spoken Chichewa.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Research, verify and report accurate news stories and current events.
  • Investigate news leads and gather information from official briefings, eyewitnesses and records.
  • Conduct interviews with experts, public figures and community members.
  • Write and edit scripts and recorded audio for broadcast.
  • Present news reports live or record voiceovers from the studio or field.
