The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the Haukeland House premises, its guests, staff, and assets. This role acts as a visible deterrent and a point of contact for security-related matters, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment through proactive patrols, monitoring, and incident management .
Responsibilities or duties
- Control entry to the premises, ensuring only authorized personnel, guests, and visitors are permitted access .
- Monitor alarm systems and electronic surveillance equipment (e.g., CCTV) .
- Issue and validate access passes/badges as required .
- Monitor the lobby and public areas, not allowing access to anyone unless they are a resident or a verified guest.
- Conduct regular patrols of the building, parking areas, and outer perimeter to check for unauthorized individuals, safety hazards, and security breaches .
- Inspect all entrances, exits, stairways, and common areas to ensure they are secure .
- Report any safety hazards, malfunctioning equipment, or unlocked doors immediately .
- Respond to all security issues and events in a timely and professional manner .
- Act as a first responder to emergencies (e.g., fire, medical incidents, bomb threats) following established protocols and initiating evacuations if necessary .
- Detain suspicious persons pending the arrival of management or law enforcement .
- Write detailed daily activity and incident reports .
- Maintain clear and professional communication with colleagues, management, and emergency services.
- Act as the public face of security, providing a world-class customer-focused service to all visitors and tenants .
Qualifications or requirementsÂ
- Minimum 18 years of age .
- Good verbal and written communication skills .
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions .
- An outgoing personality with a professional and courteous demeanor .
- Ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility .
- Vigilant, observant, and able to maintain a high degree of professionalism at all times .
- Must be flexible with shift patterns and available for evening/night work
Experience needed
- Previous experience in a security role is preferred.
- Valid driver's license may be required .
